For those of you who are at work or otherwise unable to watch a video right now, here are the questions and abbreviated versions of my answers in text:
PART ONE: JOSH AND BLIMEY COW
1. How did you and Josh meet?
Short answer: we met at a birthday party.
Longer answer: Josh asked, "Would you like to be popular with me?" and I didn't know what to say so I just laughed and walked away. And it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship ;)
2. How did Josh propose? Did he ask for your Dad's blessing?
He did ask for my Dad's blessing. Josh and my dad were actually pretty good friends by the time we were engaged, which I always thought was cool. Josh proposed by reenacting that first conversation in the place that we met. He built it up really well and then said, "Would you like to be popular with my for the rest of our lives?" I totally wasn't expecting it and I cried and it was awesome!
3. What qualities in Josh attracted you to him?
-he made me feel hilarious
-he's very good at making people feel good about themselves, especially the ones that aren't easy to be around
4. How did you know Josh was "the one?"
It's a really long, complicated story, but basically I rejected Josh several times and he stayed my friend even through the worst of it. We both learned what true love is through that, what it means to love someone even when they're frustrating you or when they've hurt you. We became best friends, and it took me a while but one day it finally clicked and I realized that I loved that man (and I would never love anyone else).
5. What is your favorite Blimey Cow video?
Right now, it's The Top 15 Christian Cliches because I'm really proud of it! But since we make a new video every week, that changes pretty often.
6. What is your role in Blimey Cow?
Josh writes the scripts, but I help come up with jokes and concepts, and I help refine his first few drafts... I'm in the videos when they need me.. I also help Josh in editing when he needs a second opinion.
7. How much time goes into Messy Mondays each week?
Writing will take anywhere from one day to all week.. it depends on inspiration/motivation. Shooting takes 3-8 hours depending on how long the script is, how many skits there are, how many people are in the video, and how giggly we are on shoot day. Editing takes Josh 8-12 hours.
PART TWO: BLOGGING, FAVORITES, AND BACKGROUND
1. How did you get into blogging? Any advice for new bloggers?
A friend of mine did a 365 photo blog project in 2010 and I loved it, so I did my own in 2011 and realized I'd miss the writing a lot so I started She Learns As She Goes in 2012. Advice: be consistent, and blog for yourself or you'll get burnt out.
2. What is your favorite Bible verse?
1 John 4:8
3. Who is your favorite Adventures in Odyssey character?
My favorite kids are Jimmy and Jared, and my favorite adult character is Eugene.
4. What is your favorite movie?
I couldn't decide... so I just started naming off movies I could watch any time: Memoirs of a Geisha, Gattaca, Pride & Prejudice (both the new version and the 5 hour version!), Up, Star Wars original trilogy (esp. A New Hope). And I didn't mention Good Will Hunting because of all the cussing but it's got SUCH a great story and "message" that I can't, in good conscious, leave it out. Just know what you're getting into if you watch this.
5. What is your favorite book?
Growing up, I loved The Princess Bride. And recently The Book Thief became a favorite. I highly recommend it!
6. Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?
Fiction, because I'm a sucker for a good story.
7. What is your favorite board game?
Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan
8. What is your favorite TV show?
Right now, Doctor Who.. but I also love LOST, Downton Abbey, older The Office... And I forgot to mention these, but I also really love Parenthood and Survivor.
9. What is your favorite video game?
10. Who is your favorite Doctor/Companion?
Eleven (though I love Nine and Ten almost as much), and River. Close second is Rory. And I didn't mention Rose in the video but obviously. And I'm also a Donna Noble fan. So. I had to cut this part down because only a few of you will care about this, haha... but I do love Doctor Who.
11. What is your favorite Doctor Who episode?
Either Demon's Run or Silence in the Library. I just thought of The Angels Take Manhattan, too. SO GOOD.
12. Were you home schooled your whole life?
No, just from 3rd grade on.
13. Did you grow up in the church?
Yes. My dad was a youth pastor until I was 9, and we kept attending church even after that.
14. What's your favorite thing about being a homemaker? Do people give you grief about it? How do you deal with that?
Josh works from home, so my favorite part is getting to spend so much time with him. It also works really well for me to be able to stay in control of my Crohn's disease. People don't really give me grief about it, but every once in a while someone online will say something snarky. I deal with it by ignoring it. It's a personal decision.
15. What is your favorite junk "food?"
Because I have Crohn's disease, I have to eat super healthy, but my favorite "cheat" food are these gluten-free donuts with a vanilla glaze.. I can't remember the brand but they're AMAZING. *For everyone asking about these donuts, I found them at Kroger in the frozen "natural foods" section.. They are gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, and soy free. I just searched for the brand and learned that it's "Kinnikinnick" - they're in a yellow box!*
That's it! Thanks so much!
