59 Celebrating Two Wonderful Years

Two years ago today, I married my very best friend!

Josh and I have had so many great adventures since then - I'm thankful even for the difficult adventures because they brought us closer together. We are learning every day to love each other better and to honor God with that love.. And we look forward to the many blessings, lessons, and years ahead of us!

To celebrate on the blog, I figured I'd share some photos from our wedding day with you, my lovely readers. August 29, 2010 was such a beautiful whirlwind of a day - I barely remember whole chunks of it! I'm so glad I have these pictures to help me remember the little moments I'd otherwise forget. They make me feel very happy. Here are some of my favorites: 

Josh's dad opened the ceremony by greeting the crowd and doing the whole, "who gives this woman" bit. I remember that he wanted to make some kind of goofy joke.. I don't remember what it was.. but I do remember being surprised when he didn't :P My dad had three jobs that day: 1) Walk me down the aisle 2) Perform the marriage ceremony, and 3) Not cry. He nailed those first two jobs, but the third was sorta impossible ;) I'm his only girl - his princess! I can't imagine being married by anyone else. He did so well and I'll always treasure that time at the alter with him and Josh.

The ceremony was pretty short, but it was so personal. My dad peppered the ceremony with relevant stories of both of us, our families gathered around us to pray for our marriage, and we wrote our own vows. There were very few dry eyes in the room, we've been told! Ours certainly weren't.

Now, on to the reception:

Honestly.. I barely remember anything from the reception. I know from planning it that there were cookies, ice cream instead of a wedding cake, and a ballin' groom's cake (it was basically a big portrait of Star Fox and Samus Aran - our two favorite video game characters), but I don't remember much about the decor and I know I didn't eat any of those treats. 

We danced our first dance to Coffee by Copeland. We chose that song because it was the first song that we ever danced to (at my Junior/Josh's Senior prom - we weren't there together, but that's a different story ha ha).

So today, as we celebrate the two best years of our lives, we remember God's faithfulness in getting us here, and we look forward to the years to come. Here's to many, many more!
