Last weekend, the whole Taylor family packed up and headed to Irving, TX for the Adventures in Odyssey 25th Anniversary Live Show. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!
I've mentioned how much Adventures in Odyssey has influenced us growing up (and even today!). The experience was something we won't soon forget. Getting to watch the actors play their roles.. was surreal. I've seen pictures of the actors before, so I knew what they all looked like.. but hearing Connie and Eugene's voices come out of Katie Leigh and Will Ryan - it was still such a surreal experience!
We started heading home right after the event. 11 hours is a looong car ride, folks! The only notable stop we made was In-N-Out Burger for dinner on our way out of Texas. Overall consensus: it was awesome. We were a fan of the simplified options, cheap prices, and fresh-food philosophy. The taste was great, too!
Jordan's face in that last picture cracks me up.
What a cool experience.
Who else loves AIO? What was the last road trip you went on?

That's looks so awesome! Yes, my siblings and I grew up listening to AIO! Road trips are just that much better while listening to it. =)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I went to the live AIO about 5 years ago that was in Colorado Springs and it was a great experience! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I grew up listening to Adventures in Odyssey and going to the Focus on the Family. You should come to Colorado Springs sometime.
ReplyDeleteI like AIO, although I had an irrational fear of it for quite a bit of my childhood because I saw ONE episode of the cartoon, and it happened to be one of the RoC ones, and even though everything was alright at the end, the weird sci-fi combined with the realish people and real gospel message thing just scarred my 5-year-old self. I came to my senses eventually, but I can't claim it as a part of my childhood.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had gone and met you guys though!
Yeah, I've never been a fan of the cartoons. The radio program is like 100000000000000000x better!
DeleteWay cool, don't know if you noticed, but one of my favorite parts about the In N Out is the Bible verses printed on the wrappers and drinks... Cool little fact!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Jordan's face in that one picture is hilarious xD
The last road trip I went on was to Myrtle Beach a few years ago, but later this year my family and I are going to New York and seeing the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown and Gettysburg to visit some friends and see the battlefield and the Flight 93 memorial (which I saw a couple months ago, I hightly recommend it to anyone traveling to PA)
We were at the AIO Live Show too! I so wish I would have known you were going to be there, my siblings and I would have loved to meet you! Were you at the first show?
ReplyDeleteNo, we were at the second show! I'm bummed we missed you!
DeleteYou had IN-N-OUT and did not bring any home ??????
ReplyDeleteI WISH I HAD
DeleteFoodies!!!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome!!! Meeting y'all would have been the highlight for sure!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!!! AGGGH, In 'N Out is my FAVORITE restaurant EVER in the whole WORLD. I grew up in SoCal which is In 'N Out heaven, but now I live in Washington, where most people haven't even heard of it. Hope you enjoyed the double-doubles animal style with the AMAZING fries and SPECTACULAR milkshakes. Seriously. My favorite food in the entire. universe. Haha, Adventures in Odyssey is fun too.:)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that meeting you guys would be the highlight of my day if I was at an event... Anyway, I hope you shared the driving! 11 hours is crazy! I do love road trips, but 11 hours would get me from one end of the South Island (of New Zealand) to the other, and that's going lengthways! The last really cool Roadtrip I went on was in December, in the summer holidays (season reversal) when a group of girls and I drove inland along a gravel road for two hours to get to the location of "Edoras" (from The Lord of the Rings movies), it was pretty fun! We climbed to the summit of the small mountain/hill and let our hair flow in the wind like Eowyn! New Zealand has some amazing Roadtrip options!
I love Adventures in Odyssey and I love road trips! I SO wish I could have gone!!!! I might have even tried to drive there without any license if I had known y'all would have been there, haha. Not really. :) That's awesome that you were able to go! I wonder... do they do that every year? I would SO love to go to one! Sounds like you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteThey don't do it every year - it was the 25 year anniversary! It was really awesome. They may do another one in like 5 years.. the last one they did was five years ago. If you ever get the opportunity, you should take it!
DeleteI grew up with Adventures in Odyssey, and have now introduced my kids to it. My 15 year old son is an Odyssey "nut" and as much as he really wanted to go to the live show, it was just too far and expensive for us to do this time. :( I actually saw a picture that someone had taken with Jordan on another blog and mentioned to my son that if we'd gone, he might have gotten to see you guys (as he's a huge Blimey Cow fan as well) and "wouldn't that have been so cool?" He rolled his eyes at me and said, "Mom, I would have been at an AIO LIVE SHOW! It would have ALREADY been cool!" But he did go on to say it would have been fun to meet the Blimey Cow team in person.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you guys got to go! And also glad to hear that In&Out is making its way east. Maybe someday it'll hit Indiana (fingers crossed).
Hahaha your son's priorities are definitely in order ;) We love AIO over here. I sure hope In-N-Out makes it this far one day! We're in Nashville, so it has just about as far to come for us as it does for you, haha.
DeleteLet me combine your two questions and tell you that I went on a solo road trip to Oklahoma this week for my dear friends' wedding and listened to UMPTEEN Adventures in Odyssey along the way! I still love them. :)
ReplyDeleteHey-
ReplyDeleteI'll bet that the road trip was a blast! You all should come visit Milwaukee WI at some point in your Blimey Cow careers ;P
Also....maybe you guys could post a serious video a Jordan and Josh and you, of course ;)...WE always see you in "character"...it would be neat to see you in your "real life" personalities.
Also...the dark haired girl in the picture...is she Josh and Jordan's sister???
The dark haired girl is, indeed, their sister. Her name is Amy and she is awesome.
DeleteAs for a serious video.. every once in a while we do uStream video chats with fans.. that's about as close as we'll probably ever get! Haha. But I appreciate the sentiment :)
How AWESOME! I love AIO!! :D I'm about to go into college, and yes I still listen to it!!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Live Show, and I met you guys! My younger brother didn't get to meet you, though, and it ruined his day. :( The live show was great! I've been listening to Odyssey for 7 years, and I'm 13. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE AIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I listen to it ALLLLLL THEEEE TIMEEE!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha oh AIO... so many car rides, so many nights falling asleep to it, Saturdays cleaning the house, etc. etc. haven't been listening for a while now, but looking forward to our kids starting to listen soon =)
ReplyDeleteMe and my brother sat in the same chairs at In-N-Out(:
ReplyDeleteYou were recongnized by quite a few people.. Me being one of them(:
I listen to AIO every night before I go to bed. It's one of my faves (: I'm so glad to hear you're such a big fan!
