6 March 2012 Resolutions

This Month's Resolutions:
  • 24 Day Juice Cleanse. We tried this at the end of 2011, but we only made it through one week. Now that we have a better idea of what to expect, we're more prepared, and I think we can really last for 24 days this time.  I know that a juice fast is kind of a controversial choice, but please trust that we know what we're doing! :) A big part of staying healthy will be to take the necessary vitamins every day. I've never been good at taking pills consistently, but this has to be a priority.
  • Get back on the envelope system. February was a pretty full month: my birthday, Valentine's Day, and a few unexpected expenses pushed us over the budget and found us using our card more than we'd like. The good news is that we saved enough extra money in January to cover our overspending in February, which means we're still on track for our yearly savings goal. The bad news is how easy it was to fall off the wagon. We can't do that!
  • Organize the "junk closet." This has needed to happen for a very long time. There were a few tornados in our area last week, so we had to pull out all the junk to hide out 'til the storm passed. Now all that junk is just cluttering up our dining room! What a great opportunity to go through the junk and do some organizing in there.

Minor Goals:
  • Paint 1 canvas. I got a bunch of canvas for Christmas, and I haven't even thought about what I want to do with them. Isn't that sad? I want to change that this month. (And of course I'll share what I come up with!)
  • Post consistently (about 3x/week). This is a repeat goal - I really want to get into the habit of posting at least three times a week! Y'all gotta keep me accountable!

Do you have any goals or resolutions for March? I'd love to hear about them!

  2. My goal is to create some idea of a projected budget for me & my Sweetheart to try & plan our college work, & when we might be able to get married within the next year or two.

  3. Hi, Kelli:

I've been enjoying your blog. I like reading about your various resolutions and goals and the steps you take to fulfill/meet them. I also like how you are still able to see positive progress even if you weren't perfect. I make similar resolutions, but maybe they would work better monthly like yours. I still have "Thanksgiving Resolutions," "Christmas Resolutions," and "New Year's Resolutions" taped to the desk by my bed! I've made improvements, but I haven't entirely fulfilled them yet. Your posts are encouraging me towards my goals.

  5. I am only 99 days until my daughter's wedding and I seem to be spending a huge amount of time on the computer, looking for the best price on things, so to make up for it, I have turned the TV off... My family does watch an hour or so in the evenings, and sometimes I join them, but I must admit it is nice to have it off most of the time!

  6. @Calista - I'd read that! You and I could be goal-blogging buddies :)

@Susan - Comments really DO encourage me! Thanks for leaving them so often. Budgets aren't always very fun... but when you're working toward marriage, it's fun to dream while you're budgeting!

@Asta - Thank you! I'm so glad this could be an encouragement... knowing that is an encouragement in itself to me. I think it's important to focus on the positive progress instead of the things that weren't done perfectly.. That helps me keep up my momentum and avoid being discouraged.

@LJ - Those are all really great goals. I think everyone can identify with wanting to improve in those areas - I know I can!

@Rebecca D - AH the pre-wedding scramble :P I completely understand being on the computer all the time to prepare for that. I bet having the TV off IS nice. There are enough things screaming for your attention without the TV being added to the list.. Have fun wedding planning!
