This Month's Resolutions:
• Go through all of our clothes. Our drawers and closet are overflowing, but I know there are clothes we haven't even touched in the year and a half we've been married. My goal is to give at least two big trash bags to Goodwill by the end of the month. I'd like to organize our closet and bedroom in a way that works better for us; maybe I'll make a couple new laundry hampers for instant sorting (instead of leaving piles on the floor).
• Continue to meal plan every week, and keep track of our savings on paper. I know that seeing the numbers will help me stay motivated to stick with our cash budget. I also want to figure out a coupon system that works for me AND keeps the coffee table and bookshelves free of coupon clutter.
Minor goals:
*Read 1 book this month.
*Post consistently on SLASG - at least three times per week.
Does anybody else set monthly resolutions for themselves? This is still very new to me, however, I hope to learn a lot through the process. Whether you set monthly objectives or not, what is your best strategy for meeting personal goals?

I need to sort through clothes too! someone gave me a back of clothes to keep, and I've only pulled out one skirt I wanted to wear, and then put the rest in a corner in our room!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand that. I've got a bag of hand-me-downs to go through as well!
DeleteI am a total list person. I have never done monthly goals however I write lists of things to do almost weekly and try to stick to them when I am lollygagging instead of working. I found your blog through my sister who found it through your husbands videos. I am so enjoying everything you're posting!
ReplyDeleteI'm a list person too! I have filled many a notebook with to-do lists. Sometimes when I'm stressed, just the mere act of listing the things I need to do will help to calm me down, haha. Thanks for following my blog! And for the encouragement :) I really appreciate it.
DeleteWell my monthly goal was for my husband and I to clean out our two car garage and so far we can easily fit one car in there. We have So much stuff that we need to load up and give to goodwill also....we literally have like 8 beds in there that someone just randomly gave us.
ReplyDeleteAnd my strategy is to just "do it" I cant make set plans for anything around the house, when I know something has to change or be cleaned up etc etc I have to make it priority until its done.
As far as coupons when I was growing up my mom had a coupon box and she would have me cut out all the coupons from the papers and then she would sort through which ones she wanted and then "file" them in the box by categories of how the store was laid out i.e dairy, frozen, meat, cereal, etc etc. :)
Anyway thats my two cents, keep writing, its encouraging
Yeah I need to get on our storage areas, too. We live in a town house so we don't have a garage, but our spare room is a disaster area. That will probably be next month's resolution. Thanks for the coupon tip! I will keep my eye out for a small box I could use. Maybe a recipe box would work.
DeleteThanks for commenting :) how encouraging.. And good luck with the rest of your garage!
Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI'm a to-do lister. So, it may not count as monthly resolutions, but I definitely have the direction I'm headed. I could see monthly resolutions working out well, actually... so I may give it a try. It seems a lot easier than yearly ones.
I've been meaning to get back into the swing of working out... hmmmm....
Anne,
DeleteThat's exactly why I've started doing monthly resolutions, because yearly resolutions are too overwhelming! I did write down a bunch of things I'd like to do/learn by the end of the year, so these monthly resolutions will hopefully help me do those things :)
Hey Kelli!
ReplyDeleteYour blog has been so encouraging, as I set a few huge goals at the beginning of the year and broke them down into months. One of them is to start eating away at my list of books to read, in hopes of getting 24 accomplished this year. I just cleaned out my clothes last month- boy it feels GOOD to be able to walk in your closet and know where everything is. As far as couponing, I know you can sign up for websites that have all of the coupons in one place and you can just print the ones you want. That would save you from clipping and having to dig through them!
You're making great progress!
Hey Abby! I've tried coupon sites before, but never very seriously. Thanks for the reminder. And also for the encouragement! I really appreciate it :)
DeleteMy husband and I started couponing last year. We use the website southernsavers.com. Our couponing pretty much consists of buying 2 Sunday papers, pulling the coupon inserts, filing them by date in a 15 x 10 x 11 file box, and then checking website for sale match ups. Website lets you know by date what coupon insert to use. Website also lists some printable coupons and has an easy introduction to couponing. I know there are other similar websites but we find Southern Savers to be our favorite.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of southernsavers.com but I've never used it. Thanks for the tip, Keri!
